Solstice Pilot InSpire
December 17 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Celebrate Winter Solstice with InSpire
On Wednesday, December 17, we will gather at the beautiful Shanti Meditation Hall at Deer Park Farm in Pilot, VA at 6:30 pm to share in the great mystery. This is a time for both introspection and sharing of life experiences–a time to celebrate our interbeing. We will cast an alter, consisting of items that hold meaning or beauty for us. You are invited to bring an item to place on the alter. We will share our thoughts and feelings as we acknowledge the long nights and the soon-to-return lengthening of days.
Winter Solstice 2025 occurs in the Northern hemisphere on Dec 21 around 10 am EST. This is the time when when the Northern hemisphere is tilted at its greatest distance from the sun, resulting in the shortest day, the earliest sunset and the lowest path of the sun on our horizon. The word solstice derives from the Latin solstitium, meaning the sun stands still. Around both solstice and equinox, the path of the sun and the daylength varies very little. Celestial events are a great time to pause and sense into the interaction of our human spirit with the ever-changing impermanent nature that we consist of.
Please note: The roads to Shanti are rural and not well maintained following weather events. For everyone’s safety, this event will not be held if there is any inclement weather.
